The Day Before the Big Island Volcano Erupted!!

We got a very special experience while living in Hawaii. We just so happened to visit the Big Island right before the huge eruption of Kilauea! It was crazy because as we were in Volcanoes National Park, we noticed a LOT more action from the places where you can see the lava. We noticed a lot bigger bubbling and taller spurts of lava where it used to be a lot smaller and harder to see. We also noticed some fissures we didn’t remember from the last few visits to the park…then we left and got word that the volcano had erupted! It totally explained everything we saw while we were there. It’s cool that we got footage of this beautiful park as it was, but also sad because it’s going to look so different next time we go there.
