Ear Piercing at Claire’s (6 years old)

I have always kind of wondered when the “right time” is to let your little girl get her ears pierced. I decided I wanted her to be old enough to want to do it, rather than doing it as a baby. When she was little, I would say that I would wait for her to ask, then make her complete a bunch of hard songs on the piano….well, I didn’t realize when she was a baby that she was going to be so good at the piano at such a young age, so leveraging piano practice for ear piercing was out the door. In fact, I have been asking her for the past few years if she wanted to do it and she always said no! Finally, just before her first vocal showcase (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuFAfGhgErE) her friend came over and had her ears pierced. Again, I asked and thought it would be the perfect time to let her feel extra pretty and confident going into her first big performance. After she thought about it all day, she came and told me she had decided all by herself that she wanted to get her ears pierced. So, the day before her show, we got them done. I think they look cute on her and she loves them!... Read More

Twins Gone Wild in Ladies Bathroom

The twins often find a way to make a game or do something they probably shouldn’t everywhere they go. Here we are in the ladies restroom in the Tillamook Cheese Factory….i think my favorite part is how the twin on the inside keeps falling off his seat!

6-week Old Baby Playing with Fisher-Price Discover ‘n Grow Kick & Play Piano Gym

we got this toy for our new baby, and I really love it! it is much better than any of the previous Fisher Price gyms we have had because of the design of the area by the feet. I love how the piano keys are strong enough not to be pushed over, but easy enough that just a little tap from a newborn foot will start the lights and music. I also love that there is an option for music to play just for the key he has kicked, or to play for a longer time to entertain him. there are also plenty of overhead toys, including two toys that can slide up or down on each of the far sides of the toy bar. Finally, the mirror is at the perfect angle! i catch my baby staring at his reflection all the time (and i think it’s so cute!) This is definitely one of the best toys we have had for him thus far.

Inside the Tillamook Cheese Factory

we took the kids to the Tillamook Cheese Factory in Tillamook, Oregon. It was great there! Here’s just a little clip of what it was like in there. what I love is that the windows look clear if you are visiting the factory, but through a camera lens they look yellow…made me think of cheese!... 3-Year Old Revelation

You can tell from the scratches on his face that he and his brother have been scratching each other. This has been going on for months. Every time we talk to him after the incident he acts like it is the first time he has been told not to scratch. Both of the twins have somehow picked up on acting like they have never heard something before, but what I love is how they always act as if they are being taught something (something they should already know)…..over and over and over and over.... Epic Twin Meltdown: Parents Pretend to Drink Twins Milk

The twins were asking for chocolate milk and having meltdowns because daddy wouldn’t let them scoop the powder for their cups (major do-it-myself phase), so we told them their milk was going to be for mommy and daddy instead–a different version of “I ate your halloween candy”. Based on their reactions, you can tell how sleep deprived they are since this is the day we came home from a road trip. One of them accidentally pulls off some loose cabinet molding as he cries!
