تهدف حلقة عالم الأرصاد الجوية من برنامج افتح يا سمسم الموسم الثاني الذي يعرض على يوتيوب بشكل مجاني إلى تشجيع الأطفال على ملاحظة الطقس واستخدام اللغة لوصف الأحوال الجوية؛ حيث تقوم شخصيات افتح يا سمسم نعمان وملسون وقرقور وكعكي وشمس وإلمو وبدر وأنيس باستعراض ذلك بأسلوب شيق يهدف إلى تعليم الأطفال من خلال أغاني أطفال وقصص أطفال وأفلام كرتون ومسابقات أطفال عبر عدة فقرات تشمل مسابقة احزرها مع نعمان حول عالم الأرصاد الجوية ومهامه وأدواته، وفقرة رقم اليوم والتي تعلمنا العد من 1 إلى 20 ورقم اليوم هو “13”، ومن ثم سنشاهد قرقور وهو يقدم فقرة الطقس تتبعه فقرة حرف اليوم والتي ستعلمنا اليوم حرف “غ”، وفي النهاية تختتم الحلقة بفقرة عالم القصص مع قصة سلوقي الذي يلعب لعبة الطقس مع والده وصديقيه غيلم وهجرس.
