The Vtech Infant Learning Rhyme and Discover Book brings together two of our daughter’s favorites – books and music. While the book is only 6 pages it does provide a variety of songs and sounds. There are things to grab and pull and colors that light up! Our daughter loves playing with the book, and unlike a traditional book it does not get soggy when she tries to eat the pages!

Features-

– It focuses primarily on three animals – Dogs, Cats, and Sheep
– Plays a variety of songs – such as BINGO, Mary had a Little Lamb, Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star, Little Bo Peep, and Three Little Kittens.
– Two volume settings
– Lights in Red, Yellow, and Blue
– Each animal makes the appropriate sound
– As others have mentioned it easy to clean – sticky fingerprints are easily cleaned
– Durable – it can be dropped without too much fear of damage
– Someone mentioned that the red light contains lead… but I am not so sure it poses a risk. Outside of that there is not much chance of child getting hurt from this toy.

Final Verdict – Our daughter loves the Vtech Rhyme & Discover Book – It provides catchy tunes, flashing lights, and stories – what more could you want?

In some cases the more a child enjoys a toy, song, book, or whatever, the more annoying the parents will find it. So far the “Fisher-Price Peek-A-Boo Cuckoo” has found its way into our daughter’s heavy play-time rotation, but had not caused too many headaches for the grown-ups.

One of the things that she likes is that she can push the button at the top of the clock and an illuminated bird pops out. Our daughter is 10 months-old and she learned how to push the button almost immediately. Each time it brings a smile to her face.

The bird is one feature – but there are many more

– By pressing the middle of the clock-hands (which do rotate) you are able to play songs.
– The dial at the top can be rotated to the “Sun” postion to play daytime songs or to the “Moon” to play nighttime sings.
– A little side is key makes a clicking sound which represents winding the clock.
– Rings are attached to the side… I am not sure why they are there, but my daughter plays with them.
– The clock is not too loud and it offers a nice variety of sounds and music. This is what helps to keep the annoyance factor to a minimum.

Final verdict – A nice inexpensive toy that children from ages 6-24months will enjoy.

Fisher-Price Topzy Tumblers Twirlin’ Tumblin’ Fun Park Playset toy for toddlers

The Fisher-Price Topzy Tumblers Twirlin’ Tumblin’ Fun Park is a toy that is fun to buy and to watch your child play with. It uses a pleasant sounding Ferris Wheel (in my opinion), easy to handle Topzy Tumblers (Others have called them mini-Weebles), and fun slide and ladder system. The toy may not have the staying power to last the full age range listed on the box (6-36 months) it WILL be enjoyed by children 18 months and younger.

A few notes-

– Surprisingly simple to remove from the packaging. I was able to get out of the box without the need of knives, scissors, rips, or band-aids (for me when I get the predictable cut from using a knife).

-Assembly is not too bad – however, follow the instructions – once parts snap together they become very difficult to remove.

– Fun factor – Lots of fun on the toy – the Ferris Wheel is easy to use and the Topzy Tumblers stay put – rarely do they inadvertently fall off of the wheel. I really find the ladder to be genius – it doesn’t work perfectly every time (see the video) but it is still pretty cool. The Topzy Tumblers themselves are fun for kids They are brightly colored and really can be played with independent of the Twirlin’ Tumblin’ Park!

– Volume – Two volume settings – and the music is not too loud. The largest aspect to the toy is the *Popping* of the ladder – this part can get a bit annoying.

– Safety – No small parts, and few if any pinch points – it seems like Fisher-Price did their homework here

– Fun Factor- This really is a cool toy for small kids. The ramp/slide and ladder alone is worth the cost – but with the addition of the Ferris Wheel there are plenty of activities to keep your child busy.

– Durability – well it is a plastic toy, but it seems to be well built.

– Batteries – 3 C batteries are included (Note – you will need a philips head screwdriver to access the batteries once they need changing)

Final Verdict – The Fisher=Price Topzy Tumblers Twirlin’ Tumblin’ Fun Park is a great option for any child younger than 18 months. This would make a great baby shower, birthday, or Christmas present. I also think that toddlers will also be amused and interested but it may not be able to compete with a Leap Pad or other advanced toy as it competes for their attention.
