Disney Jr’s Jake and the Neverland Pirates is a huge hit with both young boys and girls. My daughter (who is 3) loves the show… and at times will even say it is her favorite! The main bad guy on the show is the infamous Captain Hook who is the pirate in charge of the notorious Jolly Roger.
Disney is selling both Captain Hook’s “Jolly Roger” and Jake’s Pirate Ship “Bucky” and while Jake’s Bucky may have a few more features I am not sure if they are enough to justify the cost difference.
Notes on the “Jolly Roger”
– Unlike Bucky it does not play any sounds and/or music. This also means that it does not require batteries.
– It is about half the size of Bucky
– Does come with Captain Hook
– Includes one water cannon and three water shots (that are spring loaded for firing)
– Has an extendable plank for walking
– Has a trap door located directly below the captain’s wheel.
– Has three wheels on the bottom so that it can roll smoothly across a floor.
Final Verdict – While the Jolly Roger may not be as fancy as Jake’s Bucky as a parent I think I like it more. It is completely quiet and has fewer pieces that can get lost. As for my daughter – I don’t think she has noticed, or cared, that the Jolly Roger is about half the price of Bucky!
