The kids first saw this game when their grandma brought it with her when she visited. Hers actually came in a nice plastic “bait box” type carrier, but the one we found (got it free at a garage sale) came in a cardboard box. What do you do with a bunch of expired food??? Have a food fight, of course! For David’s 6th birthday, we decided to have a food fight. The party turned out pretty great and I think the kids had more fun at this party than at any of the other parties we have ever thrown! Our 1,000 balloon birthday used to be my favorite birthday party, but I think this one has taken its place :)

PLEASE READ: We did not buy any of this food! It was all donated by multiple entities because it was expired food. (hence all the completely random pasta–if we had purchased it, we would have chosen only spaghetti noodles, and probably not whole wheat pasta). we even made the chocolate pudding with expired soy milk. The foods were past their shelf life and not able to be sold by stores, but not to the point of being unsafe for the kids.

This video shows us opening up the Little Tikes Anchors Away Water Play Pirate Ship water table, assembling it and playing with it. This is one of the cutest water tables I have seen in a long time. The last time we bought the kids a water table, Kona was a puppy and she chewed up all of the pieces for it (it was a cute train water table). This table was easy to assemble once I got the legs on. You really have to put some umph into it when you’re using the screw driver in order to not strip the screws. The water pumps and squirters work great. It’s a little larger than the typical circular water table, so it is ideal for a family like mine with lots of kids.

It can be done! Although now that our oldest is 7, it is definitely easier to go out to eat than it was a couple years ago. I took this video of my family while we were on a little road trip eating out.

this is the twins (3 yrs old) first time trying out the drum set. i have to admit that these drums turned out to be way louder in the house than in the store, but the kids love them! in the clip, make sure you watch the 2nd twin take his turn because he’s a lot more aggressive in his playing :)
