Fancy milk shakes, here we come! After visiting Black Tap in New York (see it here: https://youtu.be/uSfW1juWuwU ) we had to compare, and Big D’s has won hands down! First of all, I have never visited anywhere that gives kids little candy filled goodie bags when they visit. The shakes were great, but the presentation was even better. We had a fantastic server and everybody at the place was so nice to us. It’s quite the trip, but we hope to go back some time now that we know this is a good place to eat :)

It’s birthday party time!!! We celebrated Matt’s birthday with something we thought he would like, since it would bring him back to his childhood: video games. We went to a nickel arcade. We only spent $5 and we were there for a few hours playing games, so it was five dollars well spent! The kids played a whole bunch of claw machines, rode pretend motorcycles, played air hockey and basketball, Matt did Dance Dance Revolution, and all the classic games, Alyssa particularly enjoyed Crossy Road (because it’s also a game she has on her iPad), Zac and Chris loved the little aiming games, and Michael loved his little bee friend game. And, since it’s Matt’s birthday, I have to let you all know what a great dad and husband he is. He works tirelessly to help me out around the house and with the kids. He is on top of our scheduling and keeps us organized with who needs to be where and when. He has so much patience and loves us all so much! We found the perfect rainy day activity for the kids when we were shopping: A DIY Cardboard Box Playhouse that they could color and decorate themselves! The kids had a blast playing make believe games in a playhouse they designed themselves! It was on sale, so we thought we’d give it a try. Pros: easy to assemble, fun for imaginative play, and will definitely take all day to color the whole playhouse. Cons: quality is quite poor. The four supporting walls had trouble staying straight as soon as we assembled it. After all the kids’ hard work, it fell apart within days. This is the most fun the kids have ever had doing kid size shopping! They really enjoyed getting to have their own cart and scan the foods they wanted to buy from their list. They also loved the Eric Carle Hungry Caterpillar areas, building with blocks, playing with steam, testing out what earthquakes are like, feeling a tornado and climbing rock walls. This was definitely one of the most fun and fast paced race we have done. The kids loved doing this bubble gum game with their giant gumball machines!
